New Year Eve in Malung

On Dec 30, 2001, we went to Malung, ca. 130km distance from Borlaengeand, and joined to the party to celebrate the New Year together. The party was Johan's old friends at the university. One of his friends, Goeran, suggested us to spend time at his parents' summer cottage located in Malung.

As a usual, swedish summer cottage is located far away from the civilization. That means the life without tapwater and electricity. And it's been so COOOOOLD with the temperature ca. -30 centigrade. But on the whole, it was greate time for me!

Look at this open field! This is on the frozen lake, covered with snow. As my understanding, they trys to make a ice-rink. The trails on the snow were made by cross-country skis.

It was 22:00 in Japan when I called to my family by mobilphone. In Sweden it still left several hours left before New Year.

Postscript

It was so nice experinece to celebrate the New Year with Johan's friends. But I couldn't understand what they said because of both my poor Swedish and their dialect, "Skaanska". It's hopeless to master the dialect for me, so next time I hope we shall communicate in English...
